The Burnley and District Historical Society was formed shortly after the Second World War to promote and facilitate interest in local history in its broadest sense

Publications

The other main work of the society relates to the publication and sales of books and pamphlets. A wide variety of local topics are covered and over the years many have been published and re-printed and the majority of authors have specialist local knowledge. Copies of past editions of Retrospect are available

Newsletter

A newsletter is published three times a year, and a more substantial annual publication – Retrospect – is published, and is available free of charge to members

Subscriptions are due at the first meeting in the year held in September. Payment can be made at any meeting or sent by post to the Treasurer, cheques made payable to Burnley and District Historical Society
